When LEKKER set out to create a range of commuter bikes, their goal was simple. A bike that people actually want to ride. A fuss-free ride devoid of gimmicks and gizmos that nobody actually wants (or knows how) to use. The bikes needed to embrace traditional Dutch design, embracing the spirit of Dutch Omafiets whilst adding a modern touch.
And so, the LEKKER Amsterdam range was born. Comprising two models, the Amsterdam range comes with a range of premium features as standard, designed to make this your very best ride:
- Super safe hydraulic brakes – with control on both handles
- A light, robust and long lasting aluminium frame
- Shimano Internal Gearing Hubs
- Carbon Belt Drive Technology from Gates CDX
- Spanninga premium LED lights
These are “get on and go” bikes; there’s no lengthy set up and no maintenance.
The Amsterdam 3-Speed
This model might be simple, but it’s anything but basic. An aluminium frame and forks make this bike lightweight, maintenance-free and comes without any risk of rust. Rain or shine, the LEKKER Amsterdam 3-Speed will have you out cruising the city streets.
With its Shimano 3 gear internal hub, this bike is the perfect choice for any rider. Its simplicity lends itself to easy riding – ideal for exploring urban streets and country roads alike. Like the rest of the Amsterdam range, the 3-Speed features a Gates CDX belt drive for smooth riding. There’s no chain that needs regular greasing, no risk of it snapping – and no maintenance necessary. And the WTB tyres with all-weather herringbone pattern and parallel grooves give you peace of mind when riding on any terrain.
Taking inspiration from Dutch Omafiets and Opafiets, like the rest of the Amsterdam collection the 3-Speed model stays true to the traditional composer style. It’s a simple, smooth ride that’s built for the everyday.
The Amsterdam 8-Speed
LEKKER’s Amsterdam 8-Speed model amps it up a notch. Adding on five extra gears in comparison to the LEKKER 3-Speed, this model is a perfect fit for the more seasoned rider.
Featuring a lightweight aluminium frame and forks, the bike features a sleek powder-coat finish, keeping the 8-Speed rust-free and looking as good as new, no matter where you decide to ride it. A Shimano Nexus 8-Speed hub is nested into the frame; the Shimano hub provides a unique gear change support mechanism, meaning pedalling power is used to make shifting gears feel as light as a feather.
Like the 3-Speed, LEKKER’s Amsterdam 8-Speed uses a Gates CDX belt drive. The stretch-free carbon fibre tensile cords and advanced urethane technology allows the belt to be flexible, durable and weather resistant – it’s a stark change from traditional chains that need regular maintenance.
With hydraulic brakes and WTB Horizon tyres rounding out the design, the Amsterdam 8-Speed is for all intents and purposes, very similar to the 3-Speed. Premium features make their mark on both models, making for a classic ride. But what sets it apart is that Shimano 8-Speed hub, giving you a wider range.
A little bit about LEKKER
Amsterdam-based LEKKER was originally founded in 2009 with a lofty goal in mind – to revolutionise the modern commute. Taking a Dutch classic and adding the latest in cycling technology, the LEKKER range is a masterclass in engineering.
When founder Meindert swapped the streets of Amsterdam for Australia’s Bondi Beach, he quickly realised that there was something missing from this idyllic new lifestyle in the sun: his beautiful Dutch bicycle. And so, LEKKER as we know it was born.
Now sold across Australia, Europe, and the US, LEKKER bikes have been adopted by commuters and casual riders alike, from all walks of life – all coming together to enjoy the wonder of travel on two wheels.
