Why is LEKKER’s unique composer model so strong?

The LEKKER approach to design is probably not what you’d expect. Their aim is to create a quality bike that will last you a lifetime – and in order to do this, they’ve taken a ‘composer model’ outlook to building bikes.

In their pursuit of perfection, LEKKER acknowledges that often the very best components are made by those who have dedicated their skills, time and effort to that particular piece of engineering. And for that reason, everything except the frame on a LEKKER bike is sourced from premium bike component manufacturers.

Some of these manufacturers have been working on their designs for decades – from Shimano gearing hubs to Tektro hydraulic disk brakes, every element of a LEKKER bike has been sourced from the very best in the business. After all, why try to reinvent the wheel?

In pursuit of low maintenance

LEKKER know the most appealing bike to any rider – whether a total novice or seasoned cyclist – is one that’s low maintenance. The aim of a LEKKER bike is to give you a simple, comfortable option for nipping round town. It shouldn’t require an engineering degree just to get started.

Because LEKKER bikes are built using components from different manufacturers, it means any LEKKER bike can be serviced at home or taken into a local bike shop. The elements of the bike can be sourced individually which means your bike can be repaired anywhere, at any time, by anyone. This creates a long-lasting model that offers flexibility.

A protective gearing hub means your ride is protected from the elements all year round, and the belt drive saves you from the risk of snapped or squeaky chains! Quality WTB/CST tyres make for a smooth ride, with added kickstand and front locking system so you can park up with confidence.

A bike for life

LEKKER bikes are designed to be with you for life. These are bikes you can pass down to your children. Every LEKKER model is built with an aluminium, rust-free frame – powder coated to keep it looking box fresh. Hydraulic brakes and LED lights to the front and rear come as standard on every single bike so every journey feels safe and secure.

Every single LEKKER bike also has matching accessories such as a rear rack, along with front racks and options to add a basket. It means that no matter where you are, or what stage you’re at – whether it’s commuting, picking up the kids, or just grabbing groceries, your LEKKER bike will be with you every step of the way.

It’s the LEKKER way of embracing that traditional Dutch design outlook; by having a bike that’s able to fit in with a variety of lifestyles and purposes, they’ve created a range of Dutch bikes that are truly multifunctional.

If you’re looking for a bike that you can have the utmost confidence in – a bike that doesn’t need you to be an expert to fix, or be close to a LEKKER outlet to maintain – then a LEKKER bike is the one for you. From Sydney to London to New York, no matter where in the world you take your bike, you’ve got peace of mind that a LEKKER bike is right there with you.

A little bit about LEKKER

Amsterdam-based LEKKER was originally founded in 2009 with a lofty goal in mind – to revolutionise the modern commute. Taking a Dutch classic and adding the latest in cycling technology, the LEKKER range is a masterclass in engineering.

When founder Meindert swapped the streets of Amsterdam for Australia’s Bondi Beach, he quickly realised that there was something missing from this idyllic new lifestyle in the sun: his beautiful Dutch bicycle. And so, LEKKER as we know it was born.

Now sold across Australia, Europe, and the US, LEKKER bikes have been adopted by commuters and casual riders alike, from all walks of life – all coming together to enjoy the wonder of travel on two wheels.

We have been regularly adjusting our production and production planning flexibly to be able to manufacture your dream bike as quickly as possible throughout these unprecedented times.

The bicycle industry is however facing continued uncertainty in its supply chain. In short, there are too few parts and components available at the moment, our suppliers therefore are not always able to meet their promised deadlines and the limited transport possibilities caused by the Coronavirus pandemic are still restricting the international movement of goods.

Our top priority is being as reliable & transparent as possible when it comes to delivering your bike to you. We are in close contact with our suppliers in order to be able to react quickly to changes in component availability should this impact delivery times communicated to our customers.

Please rest assured that all of us here at LEKKER are doing our best to meet your expectations and provide you with the most up to date information possible. The team is always available to answer any questions you may have on your order or LEKKER bikes that are yet to arrive in the US.
